Good to know

We'd rather you know the details now than be surprised later.

  • Power cuts are common in The Gambia. In the Main House, lights, fans and Wi-Fi keep running on the inverter; air conditioning and fridges only run on mains power. The Round House has no backup power apart from the battery fan and Wi-Fi.
  • The pool is about 1.8 m deep throughout, unfenced and unsupervised. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • Our guard dog may roam the grounds in the evening. Is that a concern for you – for example with young children or a fear of dogs? Please let us know before your stay so we can plan for it.
  • Check-in from 5 pm, check-out by 1 pm, personal welcome by our house manager.
  • Please send us your arrival time on WhatsApp at least 24 hours ahead. Arriving after 9 pm? Just let us know beforehand.
  • Every adult guest shows a passport or ID card at check-in.
  • Drink bottled or filtered water, not tap water. Mosquito nets are fitted; malaria prevention is up to you.
  • Wi-Fi can drop out when the local network is down. We recommend travel insurance that covers you abroad.
  • Non-smoking indoors, no parties without prior agreement.
  • Monkeys sometimes visit the garden – please don't feed them.
